THE ALDBOROUGH and Boroughbridge Show has bounced back with a very successful day following the disappointment of last year.
Torrential downpours forced the cancellation of most parts of the show last year but the sun shone this week as entrants took part in horse, cattle, sheep, pets, crops, horticultural, children's and vintage vehicle classes at Pump Field, in Langthorpe, on Sunday.

Committee member Catherine Peyton said: "We had a wonderful show this year despite our worries with regard to the weather and last year's cancellation."

"We are a growing show and we are very grateful for all the local support."

impressed

Mrs Peyton's thoughts were echoed by committee chairman John Knowles who was left very impressed with the turnout to the show.

"I would like to thank everyone who supported the 95th Aldborough and Boroughbridge Agricultural Show," he said.

"I would especially like to thank the large number of people who attended the show. With such a large number of spectators and participants it was a very successful and memorable day."

entertainment

As well as all the classes going on, other entertainment included music from the Thirsk Royal British Legion Band, a bungee trampoline and, new this year, a craft tent, which was very popular with visitors.

Spectators could also admire a range of vintage vehicles which attended the show when a car and tractor parade took place. There were also around 50 trade stands at the event showcasing local businesses.

Mrs Peyton said: "We had a wonderful selection of vintage vehicles and many local companies supported the show by bringing trade stands."

The organising committee said it was hoping to attract even more local businesses to take up pitches at next year's show.
