Vandals have caused anguish

CHRISTIAN Aid week raises money to support projects in many disadvantaged parts of the world. In Masham we have 19 dedicated volunteers who visit every house to collect donations. They do a fantastic job and collected over £1,400 from this generous community last year.
This year, we displayed some colourful promotional bunting in the Market Place to raise awareness of Christian Aid week.
Imagine my dismay when I came to remove them and discovered that somebody had cut the flags off and left the string hanging bare across the Market Place?
It makes me sad to think of all the hard work and goodwill which is jeopardised by such mindless vandalism. I wish people would think through the consequences of their “fun” and ponder on the anguish they cause.
This won’t stop us from promoting Christian Aid, but we need to be encouraged, not kicked in the teeth.
