FANCY dress costumes were out in force as the sun shone for this year's Burton Leonard Feast and Sports Day.
The event began with Ripon City Band leading a street parade through the village and into the square which was followed by fancy dress and sporting competitions and a fair on the village green, on Saturday.
Yvonne Watson, secretary for event, said: "It was very well-attended. The weather was with us after the downpour on Friday."
There were 100 entrants in the fancy dress competition with costumes including a Dalek, a crocodile, an Olympic torch and marathon runner, a kangaroo and a bumblebee in a garden.
In the sports events, children competed in egg and spoon, bean bag and sack races.
Five trophies were awarded on the day. The winners were: Baby with the best-decorated pram – Libby Watson; Best-decorated bike – Imogen Unwin, seven; Best comic costume – joint entrants Oliver Purnell, three, and Jenny Unwin, 10; Most original – Jenny Unwin; Frank Irvin Sports Trophy – Charlie Baker, seven.
The funfair included a bouncy castle, slides, slot machines, a shooting range and hook-a-duck.
