Hawk's eye view of Choir School's fundraisers
CHILDREN at Cathedral Choir School were pictured by an RAF Hawk Jet which flew over the school recently after their fundraising efforts for the Help for Heroes charity.
The 100 pupils organised their own sponsored activities and raised nearly £1,600 for the charity which supports wounded servicemen and women.
Activities the children took part in included bicycle and tricycle rides, sponsored silences and skipping, a three-mile fun run, swimming and a quiz.
Michael Furse, the charity's Yorkshire co-ordinator, said: "Our supporters come in all shapes, sizes and ages, and the efforts by these children who have all raised money for us in their own ways are very welcome."
The children were inspired to raise funds for the charity after a visit by Army remedial instructors at the beginning of term who gave a presentation about Headley Court, in Surrey, which offers rehabilitation for injured armed forces personnel.
To mark their fundraising efforts, the children gathered in the school grounds and together formed the shape 'H4H' last week. The pupils were photographed by 100 Squadron at RAF Leeming, a big supporter of Help for Heroes, when they flew past in their Hawk jet on a routine sortie.
The plane was piloted by Flt Lt James Harris and the picture was taken by Flt Lt Iain Bradford.
