THE organisers of the annual Ripon City Firework Display have handed over the final two cheques from funds raised at last year's event.
The Ripon Gunpowder Plot, which stages the display, raised £3300 from last November's event and have distributed the money to charities in and around Ripon over the past year.

The final two beneficiaries were Ripon Citizens Advice, which received a cheque for £500 and the Army Benevolent Fund, which received £250.
Representatives from both charities were welcomed to the town hall by the Mayor of Ripon, Coun Sid Hawke who presided over the presentations on Thursday last week.

Speaking after the handover, the manager of Ripon Citizens Advice, Linda Marsden said: "The donation will be put to towards the cost of running our successful new appointment system, which has greatly improved the efficiency of the service."

Coun Hawke added: "These are two wonderful causes.
"The Gunpowder Plot raised a lot of money last year and to give it so many good causes is fantastic for the city."

The Gunpowder Plot is now looking for sponsors and volunteers for this year's event
