A TEENAGER from Jervaulx, near Masham, who was killed in a road crash on the outskirts of Richmond last week has been named by police.
He was 17-year-old Thomas William John Croft.

Thomas was pronounced dead at the scene after the silver Peugoet 306 he was driving towards Richmond left the road and collided with a wooded area on the A6136, at a place known locally as Longwood Bank, on Wednesday, at 9.30pm.

The incident also involved a silver Citroen Saxo heading in the same direction and its driver, a 17-year-old male from the Leyburn area, was arrested following the crash and has been released on bail while police enquiries continue.

An inquest into Thomas' death was opened and adjourned on Friday.

Any witnesses to the collision or who saw either vehicle prior to the crash are asked to contact TC Martin Mulcaster, of Richmond road policing group, on 0845 60 60 24 7.
