THE rolling thunder of motorbikes resounded in Ripon when members of the Royal British Legion Riders Branch paid a visit to Lister House care home.
The bikers were on their seven-day national Poppy Run when they dropped in to chat with residents and staff at the Royal British Legion (RBL) home during the Catterick Garrison-to-Hull leg of the journey last week.

Petronelle Fowler Watts, matron at the home, said: "It was absolutely fantastic and great fun and was thoroughly enjoyed by all the residents.

"It really cheered everyone up and lots of the residents were interested in talking to the bikers about their cycles."

The Riders Branch members mingled with residents and enjoyed a coffee and other refreshments during their 90-minute visit and one resident, Iraq veteran Martin Edwards, got to sit on one of the bikes.
