City manager calls for side to step up a gear

RIPON City boss Charlie Brown has called for an immediate reaction from his side as they push for their first victory of the season tomorrow.
City travel to Bradford-based Field Sports & Social tomorrow (2.30pm ko) with Brown desperate to kick-start their season after four consecutive defeats.

Saturday’s 2-1 loss at home to Rothwell Athletic and Wednesday’s 4-1 defeat against Bardsey has left City rooted to the bottom of the Premier League table.

Brown was particularly incensed with the performance against Rothwell in a game he expected his side to win.

“As I’ve said before, you never really know what you’re going to get with Leeds teams,” he said.

“Rothwell have been very unpredictable the last few years we’ve played them and with the team they turned up with on Saturday I fully expected to beat them.

“But I was really disappointed with our performance.
