THIS year's Rainton 10km and Fun Run on Sunday was yet another successful event, raising valuable funds for the upkeep of the Village Hall.
In all, 350 runners entered the main 10km race, run on a route from the village via Asenby, Topcliffe Bridge, Baldersby Park and Baldersby, back to Rainton.
First man home was Gary Dunn of Thirsk and Sowerby Harriers in 32 minutes 34 seconds, his
third successive victory in this race.
First woman was Kate Nelson of Knavesmire Runners.
Earlier more than 60 runners took part in the short village fun run, staged on a new route off main roads.
The winner was T Shiel in a time of 14.11.
First local boy was A Taylor and first local girl was Elizabeth Hart.
HARROGATE HARRIERS had 28 runners in the Rainton 10km, the fifth round of The Black Sheep Race Series.
